Before there was Tag Team's "Whoop! (There It Is)," there was 95 South and the insanely absurd and popular original song "Whoot, There It Is." The ridiculous early ‘90s rappers of 95 South set a precedent for later hip-hop/rap groups to come, producing the first wave of edgy and rambunctious tracks that would soon take over the nation.

95 South started with producers Nathaniel Orange (C.C. Lemonhead) and Johnny McGowan (Jayski), who marketed a South Florida rap group named for a highway that runs through the area. The rappers got their big break in 1993 with the breakout single "Whoot, There It Is," a sexually charged "booty song" that raises the question, "Excuse me, Sonny. You know where I can find some booty?" The hilarious hit single buried itself (and 95 South's name) in the Billboard charts in the early ‘90s, racking up positions on the rap, R&B/hip-hop, dance and Top 40 genres. Following their smash single "Whoot, There It Is," 95 South's debut release Quad City Knock was also released in 1993, landing on the Billboard's Top 20 R&B album. Quad City Knock also contained the songs "Hump Wit It," "Quad City Knock" and "Do the Booty Hop," all of which found their way to the charts, as well.

After the knockout success of "Whoot, There It Is" and Quad City Knock, 95 South had trouble living up to the band's newly established name. Despite losing Lemonhead and Jayski to bigger and better projects, 95 South's 1995 album One Mo' Gen featured the hit songs "Rodeo" and "Heiny Heiny," keeping the band's name in the public. While 95 South went on to release another album, 2000's Tightwork 3000, Lemonhead and Jayski succeeded in developing the 69 Boyz and their hit song "Tootsee Roll," as well as the Quad City DJ's and their ‘90s hit song "C'Mon N' Ride It (The Train)."
