The pop/rock genre has always enjoyed a huge following of fans, much thanks to the success of many artists and bands in the genre. One band that particularly stands out in some people's minds is Alias, which was comprised of singer/guitarist Steve DeMarchi, lead vocalist Freddy Curci, guitarist Roger Fish, Bassist Steve Fossen and drummer Michael Derosier. Alias may not have been as long lasting as other prominent groups in the genre, but they certainly proved that a few pop/rock and pop/metal hits here and there can certainly leave a lasting impression.
Alias released their first, self-titled album in 1990. The record achieved gold status in the U.S. and went platinum in Canada. Several tracks became staples on dozens of radio stations around the world, and the band particularly found their voice with the hot power ballad "More Than Words Can Say." The song climbed to the impressive number two spot on the Billboard Hot 100, solidifying their spot in the music industry and earning them high praise from both fans and critics alike. In an effort to further bolster their popularity after the release of "More Than Words Can Say," the band went on tour and wound up being fairly well received by fans in various parts of the country.
Unfortunately, the fame of Alias was not long lived. Shortly after the release of the album and their subsequent tour, the members of the group dispersed, all pursuing other careers in the music industry. There were hopes among many fans that the group might reform for a reunion tour, but plans never materialized. Still people can take comfort in the fact that although Alias might no longer exist as a group, their music continues live on.
