Bone Crusher is one of the many rappers to come out of the hot hip-hop scene of Atlanta, Georgia and turn the city into the next big thing in the genre. Before he became a superstar, Bone Crusher, born Wayne Hardnett, was just a young MC trying to make it in Atlanta. He teamed up with Baby B and Bizar to form the group Lyrical Giants early in his career, and the group started gaining respect in the underground scene through their mixtapes. He was also writing for other artists like Too Short, the Dungeon Gamily and Jim Crow at this time.

It wasn't rhymes that kept Bone Crusher afloat, however, but rather his job as a chef. The love of food would later come into play again, but Bone Crusher was ready to go at music full bore. He stared on a solo career and wrote the song "Never Scared." The song started gaining incredible fame while Bone Crusher worked with everyone from Lil' Jon to David Banner to create the tracks for the rest of his album. He signed with Break ‘Em Records, which led to Bone Crusher working with Jermaine Dupri on his So So Def label.

He released the album AttenCHUN! in 2003, which almost instantly brought worldwide acclaim. He was featured on a variety of other hip-hop artists' work before So So Def merged with Arista, creating an interesting label problem for Bone Crusher. He soon worked out all of the kinks and released his sophomore album Release the Beast in 2006. That same year, he appeared on the fourth season of the reality show Celebrity Fit Club where he worked to lose weight off of his large frame. He was also a guest judge on the competition Iron Chef America. He released his third album, Free, in 2007.
