The members of Boys Like Girls started out in high school playing with various different bands. Vocalist Martin Johnson, drummer John Keefe and bassist Bryan Donahue eventually joined forces with lead guitarist Paul Giovanni to create Boys Like Girls. By the end of 2005 the group had developed their own following and caught the attention of producer Matt Squire and booking agent Matt Galle.

They are definitely the children of the technology generation, starting out with online demos and working their way forward from there. Their first album, the eponymous debut Boys Like Girls was released in 2006 under the label Red Ink, peeking in the charts on Top Heatseekers as number one. It also scored well on The Billboard 200. The emo pop/rock album is well presented by the band with their naturally laid-back enthusiasm. The album plays out the immortal story of youth, love and adventure, which is set alongside the sub-themes of heartbreak and loss that often follow the adventurous youth through life.

Once they finished recording their album in 2005, the band was eager to get back in front of their fans so they quickly packed up shop and set out on the road again. They spent some time touring with Cute is What We Aim For, then moved on to tour with Butch Walker. They also toured with Hit The Lights during this period.

The album was released in 2006 and the group found themselves fully in the limelight. Their fearlessness about wearing their hearts on their sleeves has given the band status of an honest and trustworthy group to their fans. Their album sold almost 14,000 in less than two months following the album's release. With these successes behind them, the band looks forward to further concerts and victories in the future.
