Boyz II Men is one of the most successful R&B groups of all time. They have been described as the group that is here to show the world how music should really be made. Their soft gentleman's approach to love and lovemaking has brought them status as the real men of their genre.

The group is made up of Philadelphia natives Nathan Morris (a.k.a. Alex Vanderpool), Michael S. McCary, Shawn "Slim" Stockman and Wayna Morris. They formed the band in 1988 to work on their vocal and writing skills and discovered a magic connection that has kept them going for years. In '89 they slipped backstage at a talent show that was being hosted by Michael Bivins at their school, which was the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts. The meeting resulted in a deal with Motown Records.

Their debut album, Cooleyhighharmony, was released in 1991, and the band named their sound "hip-hop wop." The single "Motownphilly" quickly came into high demand, topping the R&B charts and going platinum. Fans titled their music Jeep Funk. "It's So Hard to Say Goodbye," also became a favorite - going gold and hitting the pop Top Five. It also topped the R&B Charts. The song was eventually dedicated to tour manager Khalil Roundtree, who was shot and killed in Chicago. The tragedy took place while the group was participating in MC Hammer's Too Legit to Quit tour in '92.

Over the following years, the band enjoyed some extensive successes. In the 20 years since they started out they have enjoyed one success after another. Their work as has presented the world with some of its greatest musical gems. Their lasting power as a band seems almost unmatched in the industry, bringing them well deserved respect and a faithful, constantly growing fan base.
