They're tattooed heartthrobs with smooth Irish accents and rugged good looks, and their name is Boyzone. The group set out to seduce the international stage and they succeeded, rising to take their place at the front of the romantic music scene. Beginning in their native Ireland, they then moved to Britain. After conquering the UK, the group moved their influence outward, making their way towards international fame.
Boyzone came together under the direction of theatrical manager Louis Walsh, who auditioned more than three hundred vocalists/dancers before choosing the final lineup. Lead vocalist Ronan Keating was born on March 3, 1977 in Dublin. His voice melds echoes of ancient minstrels with contemporary music. Fellow singer Michael Graham was born on August 15, 1972 in Dublin. Steven Gately was also born in Dublin, on March 17, 1976. Prior to Boyzone he had already had some success in the entertainment industry, landing a part in the film The Commitments. Shane Lynch was born on July 3, 1976, he has had an interesting career as a member the group Christians in Motorsport. As a member of the group he has competed in the British GT Championship Silverstone Round. The final member is Keith Duffy, who was born on October 1, 1974.
The boyband had several good years before they ceased producing singles. Since then Keating went on to pursue a solo career and other members have pursued their own separate lives. The group is currently on their reunion tour, which looks to be the start of another successful run. With a strong tour as a basis for their launch point, there is hope that the group will be coming back bigger and better. Their music is currently being enjoyed by fans all over the UK, with hopes of a returning album in the near future.
