Brutal Truth was formed in 1990, a hard-core metal band which crossed over styles including heavy metal, death metal, black metal, and grindcore. The group became a figure that can only be described as darkly fantastic. Their music was something that took their audience by storm and showed them how to create a sound that was uniquely and unequivocally haunted by all things furious. The group's idea was to battle against the rages of city life and this is definitely something that they strove for tirelessly during the years that they were together.
The band was formed by bassist Dan Lilker, singer Kevin Sharp, guitarist Brent "Gurn" McCarthy, and drummer Scott Lewis. The group signed their first contract with Earache and soon after released their debut Extreme Conditions Demand Extreme Responses, in 1992. The group found themselves on the road to growing popularity. In the interim between that first album and the next one Need To Control in 1994, Lewis was replaced by drummer Rich Hoak. Kill Trend Suicide, Sounds of the Animal Kingdom followed in 1997. The last two albums were Goodbye Cruel World in 1999, and For Drug Crazed Grindfreaks Only! Live at Noctum Studios in 2000. The group broke up that same year.
Recently, however, Brutal Truth has reunited and is working on some new material for their most recent LP, which will be released with the label Relapse under the name Evolution Through Revolution. After eight years apart fans are dancing with excitement to hear what this metal group will produce next. Some of their fans have already enjoyed seeing the band play live in a tour that covered some of the US.
