Following the rock star image best exemplified by bands like Motley Crüe and Guns N’ Roses, Buckcherry is an example of the enduring appeal of white knuckled drummers, guitarists with over-the-top industrial outfits and long-haired, tatted-up lead singers. Buckcherry screamed and thrashed their way out of the club scene in Southern California in the late 1990s before eventually hitting it big on the national scene with throbbing, metal-edged but catchy singles that bring to mind Aerosmith’s early work.

Singer Josh Todd and guitarist Keith Nelson met through a mutual interest in the legendary hard rock band AC/DC and the inking of their mutual tattoo artist in Los Angeles. The two worked together on a few tracks of their own before they filled out the rest of the band that would eventually become the original Buckcherry. Drummer Devon Glenn and bassist Jonathan Brightman played with the group through their first major gigs at Los Angeles-area clubs and concerts. Response to the band was immediately positive, as they embodied the flamboyant flair and high energy atmosphere of an 80’s cover band, but a sound that was as fresh as a mosh pit-incurred broken scab.

Yogi, the band’s second guitarist, was added to the group prior to the recording of Buckcherry’s first album, a self-titled debut that was released in 1999 under the DreamWorks Records label. Many rock music critics hailed the band as a kind of savior of the genre, a resurrection of a now-nostalgic moment in rock history right before the metal craze hit full throttle. Hit songs like "Lit Up," "Check Your Head," and "For the Movies" finally broke out of The City of Angels, unleashing demon sounds on the rest of the earth.

The original members of Buckcherry released a second album, Time Bomb, that included one of their most well known hits, "Ridin.’" The band went through various roster changes after lead singer Josh Todd left the group following Time Bomb, but the band reformed a few years later with Todd and Keith Nelson remaining from the original crew. New band members were added-- Xavier Muriel on drums, Jimmy Ashhurst on bass and Steven Dacanay on guitar. Buckcherry released their third studio album, 15, in the U.S. in early 2006. 15 surpassed their debul album in terms of notoriety and sales, due to the popularity of singles like "Crazy B#@%$," "Sorry," "Everything" and "Next 2 You."
