Bucky Covington has taken the long dusty road to Nashville, Tennessee, but before he got to the land where country music was born, he stopped in at a little show called American Idol. Covington made it to the final eight during the 2006 season, and although he did not take the crown in the revered singing competition, he caught the attention of many viewers and eventually earned himself a spot in the country music industry with the help of music producer Mark Miller. With Miller at his side, Covington released his debut single called "A Different World." The song shot him onto the airwaves and almost immediately another country music star was born.

Bucky Covington is no Hollywood celebrity. He relishes in his small-town demeanor, and as a youngster he enjoyed listening to the music of Tim McGraw, George Strait and Travis Tritt, among many other famous names. Covington received his first guitar at the age of 19 and focused on a future music career. After toying with the sounds of rock, Covington settled on country as the music that best suited him. Together with his band, Southern Thunder, he played in local clubs that were constantly packed on weekend nights, everyone there to catch an earful of the talented Bucky Covington.

After much encouragement from friends and family members, Covington found himself nearly blinded by the bright lights on the American Idol stage. Not accustomed to such notoriety, Covington felt out of place, but his experiences with the show would give him the courage to pursue his music career. He went on tour shortly after the competition. Not long afterwards, he met Mark Miller and released "A Different World," along with his self-titled debut album. It debuted at the number four spot on the Billboard 200, making the subtle Bucky an instant star.
