The King Sisters; Farrah, Neosha, and twins Felisha and Fallon, began singing around the time they could walk. The quartet adopted the name Cherish and took their R&B act to the stage when they were between ages seven and 11. The Atlanta natives signed a record deal with Ashanti Records, a contingent of Warner Bros., and released their Jermaine Dupri-produced single "Miss P" in 2003. The R&B group also appeared on Da Brat's "In Love wit Chu." Cherish's debut album This Moment was never released due to undisclosed reasons, but the group made a comeback with smash single "Do It to It" at the height of the "snap music" trend in the summer of 2006.

By this time Cherish had dropped Ashanti Records and signed with Capitol imprint Sho'Nuff Records, after Atlanta's producer du jour, Jazze Pha, became interested in the group. As a supplement for their hit single "Do It to It," Cherish released an instructional video on the web teaching fans how to snap dance. Cherish signed a distribution deal with Capitol Records and released their Capitol debut, Unappreciated, in August 2006. Cherish earned comparisons with R&B contemporaries Ciara and Destiny's Child but returned to the studio to begin work on their next album with Capitol. The Truth dropped in April of 2008, and showed a more mature R&B group that strayed from their signature "snap" sound to include elements of mainstream pop. Cherish scored a cameo from fellow Atlanta native, rapper Young Joc on the album's single "Killa," which made to the Billboard Hot 100 Chart.

Although first viewed as an immature sister act, Cherish has worked hard to prove that they have staying power despite growing up in the music industry. The four sisters penned most of the tracks on each of their albums, including The Truth, and continue to stay true to their R&B roots.
