Chris Young was first thrust into the public eye on a national scale when he appeared on the popular television show Nashville Star in 2006. Young was born to be a musician as some of his earliest memories are of his grandfather, one-time Louisiana Hayride performer Richard Yates, playing instruments at family parties. Young began to display his extraordinary singing ability early in his childhood, appearing in grade school performances. He only became more motivated as he got older, becoming obsessed with music by the time high school rolled around.

Young began to land gigs at local Nashville clubs and released his first album during the final week of his senior year of high school. Young would go on to attend Middle Tennessee State University, initially juggling a busy show schedule and schoolwork before deciding to focus on music full time. Growing impatient with no record deal, Young auditioned for Nashville Star upon the suggestion of a fan.

Young not only made the cut, he stood above the rest of the contestants and was awarded the grand prize of a record contract with RCA. His eponymous label debut, spearheaded by the self-penned single "Drinkin' Me Lonely," was a big hit partially due to the fan base he'd already established on Nashville Star, but also due to the quality of the record. The album is driven by Young's classic country voice and shows that his victory in the Nashville Star competition was no fluke.

Young has wanted to be a country music star as long as he can remember and has accomplished that goal. There's no telling how high this talented singer can reach. Young is certainly a newer artist to keep an eye on, as the fire to succeed in the music business burns as hot as it always has inside this Nashville Star.
