Born and raised in rural Tennessee, gospel songstress Cindy Morgan is credited with fusing seemingly opposite styles of music. By blending pop/R&B with gospel, Morgan has allowed gospel to transcend its genre in order to reach a wider audience. Morgan sets herself apart from other female gospel singers because she pens all of her songs, which are often described as "anthemic," herself. In addition to writing her own song lyrics, Morgan lends her authorial talent to Christian artists like Michael W. Smith, Point of Grace, Sandi Patty and Natalie Grant, among others.
Morgan's debut full-length album, Real Life, in 1992 earned her six Dove award nominations, including nods for Female Vocalist of the Year, New Artist of the Year, Contemporary Album of the Year, Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year and Recorded Music Package of the year. Morgan won the Best New Artist of the Year and continued to succeed in the gospel sector. Her 1993 album Reason to Live earned another nod at the Dove Awards for Female Vocalist of the Year and solidified her place as an artist in the world of gospel music. In 1995 Morgan released Under the Waterfall with standout single "I'll Stand."
Gospel singer Cindy Morgan continued with 1996's Listen, 1998's Loving Kind, written after Morgan's journey to Israel with her husband, and 2001's Elementary. After taking a hiatus to be with her family, Morgan reemerged in the Christian music scene in 2006 with the release of her most recent album, Postcards. In 2008 Morgan debuted her first independent album, and the video for "Beautiful Bird" was released on Godtube.
