DJ Kayslay is Harlem's own big-time DJ, the man who has fought his way through and won out against incredible odds is now at the top of the game that he always wanted to conquer. The DJ has been working the hip-hop scene since he was very young. His mixtapes are known to be the best selling on the market. Despite the struggles he has faced in life--growing up in an area with heavy gang influences and the ever present scent of drugs--DJ Kane has been able to come out of it all and is now a musical power to be contended with.
DJ Kane was born Keith Grayson in the late ‘60s. He grew up under the care of his grandparents in the East River Houses of Harlem and early on his path was set up to head into the drug-infested street life that was life in the place where he grew up. As a child, he befriended Alberto Martinez who would grow up to be known as Alpo, the infamous drug dealer from the 1980s. It was a life the DJ Kane was eventually sucked into, but he was fortunate to be able to clean up and continue forward with his life, becoming one of the most influential DJs of his time.
The touch of DJ Kane has been a powerful influence on the development of the worlds of rap and hip-hop. He has refereed some of the biggest MC battles to take place since the millennium. The great battles that have taken place on his watch include the Naz versus Jay-Z and 50 Cent versus Ja Rule. After his battle with drugs, DJ Kane returned to the streets with a renewed ability to lead the music that he loved forward. Eminem was one of the debuts on his watch, as well as the Busta Rhymes remake of "Hail Mary." His music career reached a high point when he was appointed as the head of A&R for the label DEJA34 which was financed by Shaquille O'Neal.
