Deborah Cox initially began her singing career at age 12 singing for television commercials and also appearing at local talent shows. But this star would go a lot further than just the local festivals and dance halls. Throughout her teenage years, Cox devoted her time to writing her own songs and practicing her vocal skills. She was eventually discovered by Arista Records president Clive Davis right after her high school graduation. Since then Cox, who has been continuously compared to R&B great Whitney Houston, has been recording and performing her music both in the studio and on stage, where thousands of her fans gather to see this talented vocalist belt out beautiful tunes with that deeply passionate and sultry voice.

Deborah Cox released her first album in 1995 and it featured the singles "Sentimental," "Where Do We Go From Here" and "The Sound of My Tears." Cox insisted on co-writing most of the songs on the record, which proved to be a huge success among the R&B audience. "Sentimental" was the most successful of the songs, appearing at the number four spot on the U.S. R&B Charts. Just three years later Cox was back in the recording studio putting together the cohesive sound of her follow-up album One Wish. The record spawned the giant R&B chart toppers "We Can't Be Friends" and "Nobody's Supposed to Be Here." The album eventually went platinum and it is regarded as Cox's best selling album to date.

Now that Cox had established herself as a household name in the growing genre of rhythm and blues, she sought to explore her musical talents and redefine her style with her 2002 album The Morning After. Many tracks on the album made a big splash in dance clubs around the country, with people bumping and grinding to the beats of "Absolutely Not" and "Mr. Lonely." In 2007 Cox released Destination Moon, which was a beautiful tribute to the legendary singer Dinah Washington. With her stunning voice accompanied by a grand orchestra Deborah Cox once again took center stage.
