Starting as a worship band in England, the Christian band Delirious? has gone on to become a well-known band all around the world. The group was originally called Cutting Edge when they came together in the early 1990s. The first members of the band were Marin Smith on vocals and guitars, Tim Jupp on keyboards, and Stew Smith. Their original goal was to create worship music that appealed to the youth of the south English coast town they lived in, Littlehampton, West Sussex. As they started playing around town, they added Stewart Garrard on guitars and Jon Thatcher on bass. They soon signed a deal with EMI after one of their singles, "Deeper," from an EP they released made it into the UK top 20.

They released their first album, The Cutting Edge, in 1997, and by that time the group had all dropped their jobs to be a part of the band fulltime. They soon started putting out singles, which charted on the mainstream charts in the UK. They were soon ready to take their sound stateside, and again found success. Their 1999 album, Mezzamorphis, was their first to chart in the United States, reaching number 137 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album was also a major hit in their home country with tracks like "Bliss," "Follow" and "It's Ok."

Their next album, Glo, again made its way onto the Billboard 200 charts with top worship songs like "God You Are My God," "Hang On to You" and "My Glorious." The 2000s cemented the group as a staple of the Christian music diet with successful tours and the release of albums like World Service (their most successful on the U.S. Charts), The Mission Bell and Touch. In 2008, Smith left the group and was replaced by Paul Evans. The group announced they would release a live album before taking a break soon after.
