With his trademark long blonde hair and high pitched vocal ability, boogie rock ‘n' roller Edgar Winter has livened the spirits of fans everywhere, recording some of 1970's biggest hits like "Frankenstein" and "Free Ride." Winter has enjoyed number one hits and incredible fame throughout the years, producing albums well through the ‘00s.

Edgar Winter is the younger brother of Johnny Winter, a ukulele player and guitarist who shares his penchant for long slick tresses. The Winter brothers were raised in Beaumont, Texas, where their father sang in various outfits like a barbershop quartet and a church choir, also rocking the saxophone in a jazz group. Edgar and Johnny played music together growing up, even performing in bars when they were just teenagers. The brothers played in groups like Johnny and the Jammers, the Crystaliers and the Black Plague before branching off into solo careers, and Edgar's talent for the saxophone, keyboards, bass, guitar and drums eventually led him into his own solo success by the time he was in college. Inking a deal with Epic Records in 1970, Edgar Winter soon overcame guest performances on his brother's albums and started releasing his own. Winter created the group White Trash, which was short-lived but did release two decent albums, White Trash and Roadwork. By 1972, Winter had formed the Edgar Winter Group, and the band's first album They Only Come Out at Night was released in 1973. Hit singles "Frankenstein" and "Free Ride""Frankenstein," he still is very active in the entertainment industry. A number of albums have since been released (well into the 2000s) and the current Beverly Hills resident has also had a hand in creating movie scores.
