It seemed from the start that Elliot Yamin would not grow up to be a star. He dropped out of high school during his sophomore year and bounced around working odd jobs until he found himself at the Foot Locker where his employer finally helped him obtain his GED. Yamin never had any formal training in singing, but ever since he was five he has been exercising his vocal chords in the aspiration that someday he might just make it to the big time. For anyone who once doubted his abilities in front of the microphone, they were proved wrong when Elliot Yamin stepped up on the stage during the fifth season of American Idol. After singing a winning rendition of Donny Hathaway's "A Song For You," millions of Americans were introduced to Elliot Yamin, and he has been captivating fans ever since.

Yamin went on to achieve a third place finish in American Idol, and his bronze standing helped propel him into the music industry. He released his self-titled album in March 2007, which charted at the number three spot on the Billboard 200 charts. Only a few months later, the album was certified gold in the United States. Two of his most well-known songs from his introductory record include "Movin' On" and "Wait For You." Both songs achieved notable fame on the charts and have since become two of Yamin's most successful singles.

In addition to his studio albums, Yamin has spent a lot of time traveling and has also appeared on numerous television shows. Included in the television lineup were Live with Regis and Kelly, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live and TRL. Yamin has traveled across the United States and has also journeyed worldwide in the promotion of his music. In addition, Yamin supports and is the spokesperson for various organizations, a couple of which include the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and the Life for a Child Program. He is planning on releasing a new album this coming fall.
