Punk, disco and electronic combined together creates Erasure. The group that began via mail-order vocalist has continued to create timeless music for all your senses.

When Vince Clarke, former Depeche Mode member and creator of Yazoo and other synth-pop groups, failed with yet another sound, he put out an advertisement in the British music press. Andy Bell replied, making a mark even as the 41st person to audition. The rest, so to say, is history.

The pair started recording together immediately, producing the jumbled debut album Wonderland. The few singles it produced ("Who Needs Love Like That" and "Heavenly Action,") was apathetic on the charts. The duo steered on, performing at local London clubs and halls that showcased Bell's openly homosexual theatrical antics and the dance-pop sound unlike any band Clarke had performed. After a few singles that made headlines in countries other than their own, Erasure hit college campuses and clubs in their first UK tour.

It wasn't until their third album, The Innocents, that the artists saw some hits. The album reached number one in Britain, featuring their first American hit "Chains of Love." The next few years saw more hit singles reaching the Top 10, like "A Little Respect," and "Sometimes." With a mainstream following backing them up, the duo now felt it necessary to don silver space suits during their packed performances, erasing doubt in anyone's mind that their momentum and peculiar tricks would slow down with celebrity.

As they continued to create several more albums and EP's over the years, their sound became much more poppy and little less "erasure." Their singles continued to top the charts into the ‘90s and ‘00s, with "I Say I Say I Say" and "In My Arms."
