The Chicago-based quartet Fall Out Boy formed in 2001 and is comprised of Patrick Stump, Pete Wentz, Andrew Hurley and Joe Trohman. After a self-released demo garnered the band some attention, they released a mini-album entitled Fall Out Boy's Evening Out with Your Girl in 2002. The record would receive more attention from fans upon its re-release years later, but the disc did manage to get the attention of record executives.

The band's full-length label debut, Take This to Your Grave, showcased the pop-punk sound that they would become known for and set the stage for the group to take the next step. In 2005, Fall Out Boy released their follow-up full-length, From Under the Cork Tree, on Island Records. The disc made good on all the promise that oozed from Take This to Your Grave and was a smash hit. The buzz surrounding the group was heightened by way of Internet social networks such as MySpace. From Under the Cork Tree produced two top ten singles, "Sugar We're Going Down" and the frantic but catchy "Dance Dance." Fall Out Boy had made the leap from cult favorite to mainstream hit.

With star status comes a busy schedule, the group would soon learn. The foursome truly got a taste of success and its accompaniments, such a demanding touring schedule and a slew of television appearances. The band didn't miss a beat though with their 2007 release Infinity on High. The album, which borrows its title from a letter written by Vincent Van Gogh, debuted at number one and spawned several hit singles, most notably "This Ain't A Scene, It's an Arms Race." The record went platinum a mere month after its release.

The group's most recent release came in the form of a live CD/DVD package, Live in Phoenix. The record showcases the underrated vocal ability of Stump, features an appearance by John Mayer and includes a cover of Michael Jackson's "Beat It."
