Flavor Flav is one of the most colorful personalities in rap today, he was born William Drayton on March 16, 1959, in Roosevelt, Long Island, New York. He is most well-known for his comedic antics as a part of the group Public Enemy. Flavor Flav attended a high school in Freeport, New York, but dropped out before graduating in the hopes of launching a career as an entertainer. He eventually was provided with his own radio show on Saturday nights at Adelphi University, where he met Chuck D who would eventually become the leader for the group Public Enemy.

Flavor Flav, along with Chuck D, DJ Terminator X, and Professor Griff formed Public Enemy in '82, the group eventually became known as the most important act in hip-hop, and perhaps in contemporary music as a whole. As a part of the group Flavor Flav invented the position of rap sidekick, becoming the creator of an absurdist delivery that incorporated his flamboyant style. The style is most famous for including at set of gold teeth, an oversized watch (worn around his neck), and comical sunglasses.

The artist eventually set out on his own, after having already become famous as the side-kick to Chuck D's politically charged rap. Flavor Flav has so far released one successful solo album, a self-titled debut which took many people by surprise with its cleverly produced songs and well-presented sound. The album hit the charts, and made a pretty good standing for itself, reaching 44 on Top Heatseekers and number 80 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. Flavor has also had his own hit TV series The Flavor of Love which became a popular show, with three follow-up series. The show was based on the idea that Flavor was looking for the right girl to marry.
