Freddie Jackson no doubt brought the sounds of soul music to the forefront during the 1980s and early 1990s. Soul music had slipped to the wayside during this time, and Jackson really helped to redefine the genre and make the sounds of soul hip again. He rocketed to stardom with his most well-known hits like "Rock Me Tonight," "Jam Tonight," "Do Me Again" and "You Are My Lady." Starting as a gospel singer, Jackson has his feet firmly planted in the roots of soul and R&B music. He made his start in the New York clubs and bars and became a prominent figure in the area, drawing in crowds to listen to his charismatic voice and be wooed by his undeniable charm on the stage.

In 1985, Jackson finally landed what he had long been seeking, a recording contract with Capitol Records. His debut album was titled Rock Me Tonight, and he became and instant sensation on radio stations around the country. "You Are My Lady" proved to be one of Jackson's biggest hits and became his highest charting single on the Billboard Hot 100. It peaked at the number 13 spot. Other hit songs included "He'll Never Love You (Like I Do)," and "Love Is Just a Touch Away."

After such a storming success, Jackson watched as his sales faltered, and he opted to make a break with Capital Records and instead decided to sign with RCA. His label debut was titled Here It Is. Jackson also recorded many other albums that included Christmas albums, Private Party, Life After 30 and It's Your Move. One of his most recent releases dropped in September 2006 under the record label Orpheus Music and helped to further solidify his standing on the charts. True at heart, Jackson is a soul man and stirs the hearts of many who tune in to hear him croon his many tunes.
