Gaynor was born Gloria Fowles in 1949 in New Jersey. She got her start in the music business as a singer in the R&B group Soul Satisfiers. After auditioning for a big wig at MGM Records, Gaynor landed herself a solo deal. Her 1976 release Never Can Say Goodbye was one of the first albums to feature continuous play, specifically designed for club play. This nonstop music concept has not faded and remains a go-to strategy for those looking to make it big on the club scene.
