Gregory Isaacs has been brightening people's days and tugging at their hearts for more than three decades. Born in Kingston, Jamaica in 1951, Isaacs made his way into the music industry via the talent show circuit, a popular avenue traveled by many an artist hailing from his homeland. After a few failed ventures as a member of duos and groups, Isaacs started his own label, African Museum, in 1973.

Isaacs cut the self-released single "My Only Lover" and, as they say, the rest is history. From 1973 to 1976, Isaacs released enough material to span an entire career. Many of his songs released during this period are considered reggae classics.

By the late 1970s it had become apparent that Isaacs had two different styles. On one track he could portray a suffering roots singer and on the next a passionate lover. He was, in fact, both personalities all rolled into one man, and one great artist. Virgin saw the potential for commercial success and signed Isaacs in 1978. After several albums failed to make waves on a large scale, Virgin cut ties with the singer and Isaacs found a home at Mango. His services immediately paid dividends as he scored the biggest commercial hit of his career for Mango with Night Nurse and its title track.

Isaacs is said to have released as many as 500 albums throughout the U.S., U.K. and his home country of Jamaica throughout his illustrious career. He's always been one of the most eager to record artists any musical genre has ever seen and his love for music is nearly unparalleled. He continues to release records and singles on African Museum while maintaining his reputation as a riveting live show. He's gained countless fans over the course of his career and is still earning new followers more than 30 years after it began.
