Anyone who has been to the European club night called "Captain Sensual at the Helm of the Groove Armada" has surely heard of the London-based music group of a similar name. Groove Armada, the group comprised of DJs Andy Cato and Tom Findlay, has busted out eclectic electronica hits since combining the duo's brainpower in the mid-1990s and has produced a number of hit dance and trance songs, including the ever-popular "I See You Baby," the song that had the world humming along to the lyrics "I see you baby shaking that ass" throughout the early 2000s.
Groove Armada began as the brainchild of Cato and Findlay when the two were introduced by Cato's girlfriend. After starting a club night at which the two frequently spun records and fat beats together, Groove Armada jumped onto the world's stage with a handful of singles including "4 Tune Cookie" and "At the River," both 1997 releases. Groove Armada released its debut album Northern Star in 1998, followed by the well-acclaimed Vertigo in 1999. Vertigo scratched its back on the British charts and was also a hit in the U.S. after its American debut in 2000. It was Vertigo's hit song "I See You Baby" that launched the group into full-blown fame, and the long-lived song was eventually remixed by Fatboy Slim, giving it a second chance for more exposure.
After a gig opening for Elton John on tour, Groove Armada released a number of remixed albums, including Back to Mine and 2001's Goodbye Country (Hello Nightclub). 2003 brought the arrival Lovebox, and the band's long-anticipated album Soundboy Rock was released in 2007, which is still being played at clubs across the universe. Groove Armada also released a greatest hits album in 2007, the band's 10-year story titled GA10.
