Reggaeton star Hector El Father's rise to the top was as stunning as his sudden departure from the music scene. His full name is Hector Delgado Roman, and he hails from Puerto Rico. He was already contemplating a career in music before he reached his teens and formed a singing group by the 1990s. He later hooked up with Efrain Fines to create the duo Hector y Tito. They released their debut reggaeton album in 1998 and were soon on their way to stardom. More successful albums followed as they pushed the genre to the forefront of the Latin music scene. They were the first artists of their kind to have a sold-out concert in Puerto Rico.
Hector y Tito broke up in 2005 so that both artists could pursue solo careers. Hector El Father started releasing singles soon after as well as playing sold-out shows. His hard beats had drawn the attention of hip-hop icon Jay-Z that same year, and the two started working on a compilation album together soon after. He released both Los Rompe Discotekas and The Bad Boy in 2006, both of which made it onto the charts. The former reached number one on the Top Latin Albums chart while The Bad Boy reached number two on the same chart as well as number 25 on the Top Rap Albums and number 81 on the Billboard 200. The album also had the hit single "Sola" and the collaboration with Jay-Z.
Along with his music career, he became the Latino spokesman for Rocawear. Hector El Father also released a mix album as well as a live album in 2007. He released Mi Trayectoria in 2008, the same year that he was cleared of any wrongdoing for his involvement in a gas station shooting. The experience forced him to take a look at his life. Hector El Father decided to give up rap and dedicate his life to God. He released what he called his final album, Juicio Final, later in 2008, an album that had a starkly different feel from his previous releases. He also embarked on a farewell tour after the release.
