Call him Jayo Felony, Bullet Loco or another one of his monikers, but just don't call him unoriginal. Felony has made a name for himself because of the unique beats he creates and his one-of-a-kind sound. That doesn't mean that he doesn't take any influences from the beginnings of rap. While most artists are shying away from the street culture where the genre started, Felony dives deeper in with every album and proves that he is the real deal in the industry. He is from San Diego, California and was in a gang for the better part of his young life before turning to music.

It was in while he was in a juvenile detention center that he came up with his name Jayo Felony. He started producing underground releases first, which started gaining local attention. It was his single "Piss on Your Tombstone" that landed him a chance at success. The song was heard by the famout Jam Master Jay, who took a liking to the rhymes of Felony and signed him to his own JMJ Records, which had a connection with Def Jam. It was there that he released his debut album, Take a Ride, in 1994. By the next year, the album had reached number 65 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.

His next release, Whatcha Gonna Do, dropped in 1998 and was an even greater success. The title track for the album featured other top artists DMX and Method Man. The album not only reached number eight on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, but it also went to number 46 on the Billboard 200. He switched labels and released Underground in 1999 before deciding to go independent. His 2001 release, Crip Hop, made it to number 10 on the Top Independent Albums and number 53 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. It was followed by Criminal Intent in 2007 and Still Tru'ed Up in 2008.
