k-os is an acronym for "knowledge of self," a sentiment that directly applies to the Canadian rapper, who has spent over a decade sculpting himself and his music to the rap community. Pronounced "chaos," k-os the rapper exudes qualities that are anything but. The sound of his music includes elements of rap, funk, rock and regga,e and on the whole, k-os is dedicated to promoting a positive message through his songs.

Vocally, he has been very critical of mainstream hip hop and rap music, citing the unhealthy obsession with money, fame and the culture's glorification of violence as elements that need to change. He is a rap artist, who, instead of exalting the use of drugs and weapons to his listeners, seeks to denounce unlawful crimes in an effort to get young people to listen. Apparently his fans are all ears.

k-os first appeared on the music scene in 1993 with the release of his singled called "Musical Essence." He would not stick around on the stage long, because a few years later he withdrew from the spotlight to focus on honing his musical style in ways that he felt would be more appealing. His debut album as the new and improved k-os hit the stores in 2002. While Exit received positive reviews from critics, k-os hadn't bounced back like he had hoped. k-os takes the time to travel and spread his singing skill to audiences around the globe. His next album is titled Yes! and is due in stores sometime during fall of 2008.
