Kenny Loggins has been charming listeners with his particular brand of soft rock music. He has remarkably enjoyed more than three decades of success in his career as a singer, songwriter and guitarist, and his fan base just keeps growing. This gushing wave of success was incredible for a person that suffers from bouts of extreme shyness, but Loggins took his new found fame with a steady, easy-going stride. His subtle guitar tunes and his knack for roping in crowds of fans without seeming to overwhelm them is a testament to his skill on the stage. He never once has come across as arrogant, instead he masters the character of a laid back singer who just wants to please his fans.

Loggins was born as Kenneth Clarke Loggins in Everett, Washington in early 1948, and his family then moved to Detroit and subsequently to Alhambra, California when he was a teenager. In the late 1960s, he was based in Pasadena and spent his time studying at the local college there. He joined a band called Gator Creek, and the group eventually got signed to Mercury Records. The group successfully recorded one self-titled album, which contained a version of "Danny's Song." After moving around to other small time bands, he ended up with Jim Messina and the two worked as a successful duo for several years during the first part of the 1970s. They enjoyed a four-year string of successful albums.

Although Loggins and Messina broke up in 1976, Loggins went on to enjoy a successful solo career as well. Some of his most popular records include Celebrate Me Home, Nightwatch and Keep the Fire. Loggins also became known for his frequent contributions to movie soundtracks, with ballads like "Footloose," "Danger Zone" and "Nobody's Fool." All of Loggins' songs proved to be easy tracks to sing along to, and this is also partly why he was such a successful performer throughout the 1970s. People still flock to his many concerts today, and he recently released How About Now, which was his first solo album in many years, in 2007.
