The Swedish band Kent is one of the biggest pop sensations to ever rise to fame in Sweden, bringing in scores of fans as they released numerous hit albums. The band was first formed under a different moniker in 1990 by singer/songwriter Joakim Berh and guitarist Sami Sirvio. They added in Marin Skold on bass, Marin Roos on guitar and Markus Mustonen on drums to complete the first lineup. They started playing around the area as well as creating a demo. They picked up the name Kent in 1993 and they recorded another demo the following year. The demo led to a record deal and the band was off and running.

They released the single "Nar Dert Blaser Pa Manen" in 1994, but it was not a widely appreciated success. They followed it up with a self-titled debut album the next year as well as more singles. They also embarked on a tour in 1995 to bolster the interest in their group. The end of the tour saw Roos leave and Harri Manty take his place. In 1996, they released their sophomore album, Verkligen, which featured a slightly more depressing sound. The switched worked and the album was a smash success in their home country.

The album's success launched a successful tour and the group started working on a new album. They released Isola later in 1997, which was instantly a number-one hit. The next year, the group released an English version of the album, drawing in even more fans. They followed it up with 2000 album Hagnesta Hill and the hugely-successful Vapen and Ammunition in 2002. Since that release, the group has kept up their fan base with releases like 2005's Du and Jag Döden and 2007's Tilbaka Till Samtiden. They also released a B-side album that covered the beginning of their career through 2000.
