Country trio Lady Antebellum plays traditional country music that, much like their old Southern name, harks to an earlier era while remaining one of the most fresh-faced country acts in the Nashville scene. Lady Antebellum soared to the top of the country charts with their smash single "Love Don't Live Here Anymore" and with a sound that is equally new and classic it looks like they will be around for a long time to come.
Southern roots collided when Augusta, Georgia natives Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood met Nashville, Tennessee belle Hillary Scott at a downtown Music City music venue in 2006. The trio formed Lady Antebellum and created a unique style of country music that fuses the soulful R&B sounds of the ‘60s with contemporary country. Throw in the group's two-part harmony and limitless songwriting and instrumental talent and you have one unstoppable trio. Lady Antebellum may have gotten its start playing in obscure dive bars, but the group picked up speed and soon was playing at the legendary Grand Ole Opry, opening for Phil Vassar and Carrie Underwood, as well as playing with country legends Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw.
Lady Antebellum scored a record deal with Capitol Nashville in 2007 and, thanks to the soaring success of their single "Love Don't Live Here," the trio was awarded the "Top New Group" honor at the Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards in 2008 and opened for Martina McBride on her tour that summer. Lady Antebellum's eponymous debut was produced by hit-makers Victoria Shaw and Paul Worley, and in addition to hit singles "Love Don't Live Here" and "Looking For A Good Time," the album earned the coveted number one spot on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart, as well as the number four spot on the Billboard 200 Chart.
