Their name epitomizes the drum and bass movement. London Elektricity has been together for over ten years and hasn't slowed down.
Tony Coleman, the man behind the name, started London Elektricity to bring a larger audience toward the bass and drum sound and has since made a name for himself. Similar to other DJ masters Roni Size and E-Z Rollers, the two that make up London Elektricity (Tony Coleman and Chris Goss, both musicians) focus on the music and the music only. During live performances they like to bust out wind instruments like the flute, string instruments like the violin, and as always, Coleman's thick double-bass sound.
Coleman is the founder of West London's Hospital Records and along with the group is celebrating their ten-year anniversary. The record label, much like the group, focuses on the genre Drum & Bass. London Elektricity is their main act, which also has Cyantific.
For a pair of rocking DJs, this group has done exceptionally well. Their first few singles, including "Sister Stalking" and "Pull the Plug" did well in other countries, like Japan, which led to a distribution contract through Sony Japan. In 1999 holding on to their success from their first few released singles Coleman and Goss released the first, full-length album Pull the Plug. Since then they have provided remixes for Herbie Hancock's Headhunters and Fugees' Refugee Camp signee Jon Forte. They create hard hitting beats and have a unique sound. They have released more albums over the years, including the most recent Syncopated City in 2008.
