The Manic Street Preachers are hard to miss. Dressed up in glam, donning dark black eyeliner and screaming relentlessly about politics, these boys are not the type to mess with in a deserted alley late at night. Often times they are compared to bands like the Clash and the Sex Pistols, with their main focus on the fundamentals of true rock 'n' roll sounds. What audiences heard at one of their concerts was a loud, harsh critique of political ideals and ear deafening hard rock. Their fierce determination and brash appearance helped them win over fans, who were eager to put rock music back on the charts rather than the trippy trance music, which was dominating the era of the 1990s in Britain.

The band members, an odd assortment of equally strange individuals. Most unbelievable was Richey James who carved the words "4 Real" into his arm during an interview and soon afterwards disappeared, with no one knowing his whereabouts. The remaining members of the band carried on, releasing 1996's Everything Must Go, which helped to establish them as superstars in England. The record is a compilation of hard-hitting rock songs that seem to soar. Many of the tunes address the unfortunate circumstances surrounding James, rooting out the melancholy state that the band was in. Some of the hit tunes from the album are "A Design for Life," "Kevin Carter," "Everything Must Go" and "The Girl Who Wanted to Be God."

The Manic Street Preachers were undeniably one of the key bands during the early 1990s, and they rode to success right after the release of "Motown Junk" and "You Love Us." Their sound was creating a buzz throughout the music industry, and gradually they culminated many followers throughout the world. They even continued to command attention in the 2000s, releasing Know Your Enemy in 2001 and Lifeblood in 2004.
