Many musicians can probably out-sing him, others can probably out-play him on guitar, but singer/songwriter Matt Redman makes up for any of his shortcomings with a passion for his faith and music that is virtually unmatched in the music industry. Redman hails from England and was up on stage leading worship bands by the time he was in his mid teens. He also started writing music around that same time. The way he writes music is simple; Redman takes his life experiences and puts them into songs. The result has been anything but low-key, however, as his songs and albums have become favorites in the Christian music community.

Redman first came onto the scene with his 1998 album, Friendship & the Fear. Instead of focusing on himself as a musician, Redman's album was full of worship songs that could be used by bands at churches across the nation. He followed it up with The Heart of Worship in 1999. With his writing style, each song in Matt Redman's collection has a story behind it. The title track to his 1999 release was about the actions of a pastor at his church. The pastor removed all of the musical equipment from the church in order for people to focus on God instead of the band or the music.

He continued cementing his reputation as a talented songwriter with the release of Where Angels Fear to Tread in 2002. By the time he released the follow up, Facedown, in 2004, Redman was becoming a household name in the Christian music scene, and the album was the first to appear on secular charts by reaching number 39 on the Top Heatseekers. He released Blessed Be Your Name the Songs of Matt Redman, Vol. I in 2005 and found his first success on the Billboard 200 with his 2006 release Beautiful News. Redman writes many songs with his wife, Beth.
