Matt Willis was born on May 8, 1983, in London, England. He first became well known as Mattie Jay - a member of the highly popular group Busted who became famous in early 2002, alongside James Bourne and Charlie Simpson, and spent a whirlwind three years making a musical assault on the British public before hanging up their collective guitars and moving on to newer things. When the group said goodbye in 2005, Simpson went on to become a part of Fightstar, Bourne created the group Son of Dork in the tradition of Green Day, and Willis decided to go solo.
When the group decided to call it quits and leave Busted behind them, Willis got drunk and then stayed in his hotel room for a week writing some self-pitying songs on his guitar while he thought about the group's breakup. But eventually he picked himself up and dusted himself off and decided that he was going to become even bigger than the group that he had his start in. He set out working on his music, although he had to interrupt himself for a short time in order to deal with a drinking problem. The resulting album has been hailed as excellent by a number of people.
The album Don't Let it Go To Waste was released on 20 November 2006, and was co-written with two of the members from A. Prior to the album's release he also spent some time on I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here, a British show similar to Survivor. The artist has now released his first album and fans are wondering when the next one's coming. Songs highlights from the album include "Up All Night" and "Falling Into You."
