Although she is relatively new on the music scene, Megan McCauley has already made a reputation for herself as brash, unapologetic, over-the-top and incredibly talented. McCauley writes or co-writes all of her music, which is even more amazing considering that she can't read music. Like other singers, McCauley was singing from a very young age. She grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, which is the home of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It was a trip to this attraction that awakened her desire to be a rock star and follow in the footsteps of greats like Janis Joplin and David Bowie.

Her sound may be rough, but that is understandable once you have heard a little about the life of this young star. Her father had left when McCauley was young, but returned when she was in her mid teens. The return was not a joyous one, however, as he attacked her mother during a fight a couple of years later. McCauley tried to step in and suffered some injuries as well. She didn't have a great relationship with her mother, either, who she referred to as a controlling stage mom when she was on Dr. Phil. Now in her 20s, McCauley uses her life experience as subjects in her songs.

McCauley was picked up by Wind-Up Records while still in her teens after dabbling in country music. She was decidedly rock when she released her 2007 debut album, Better Than Blood. Each song explores another side of McCauley and fans love the brutally honest album. She wrote the song "Wonder" when she was 14, which seems impossible considering its depth. The track "I'll Pay You to Shoot Him" is the song McCauley wrote about the aforementioned altercation between her mother and father. She is just starting her career, but McCauley seems well on her way to becoming something of rock legend.
