Well known for their synthesized pop sound, their outrageous costumes and their loud, colorful makeup, Missing Persons has stood out as one of the most prominent bands to usher in the sound of New Wave music in the early 1980s. The group formed together in the late 1970s, orchestrated by former Frank Zappa drummer Terry Bozzio and ex playboy playmate Dale Consalvi.
As soon as their band was complete, the members of Missing Persons started playing at local Los Angeles clubs and introducing themselves to the local crowds of L.A. County. Immediately, their sound and onstage style caught on with the crowds. Dale Bozzio, standing practically at the helm of the band, became an icon of the early 1980s, with her platinum blonde hair, streaked with pink and her revealing skin tight outfits complete with Plexiglas bras.
Missing Persons released their first full length album, Spring Season M which featured the debut songs "Words," "Destination Unknown" and "Walking in L.A.," all of which became hits in the underground music market. The group later released Rhyme and Reason, which remained popular among fans, but still did not chart well. Thus the band started to drift apart, including the Bozzio's who would eventually divorce. Missing Persons lived their heyday in the 1980s, but to the delight of their many fans, they can still enjoyed on their many albums and also through their reunion tours.
