Natalia Lafourcade has brought a youthful new sound to pop music with her playful and confident nature oozing throughout all of her songs. She originally hails from Mexico and made her entrance in the early 2000s as part of a rock band called Natalia y la Forquentina. She was born Natalia Lafourcade Silva on February 26, 1984 and seemed to take an early interest in music. Over the course of her childhood, she focused her studies on the flute, guitar, piano and the saxophone, not to mention singing lessons. It wasn't long before she was noticed by Loris Ceroni, an Italian producer who has worked with such notables as Alejandra Guzman. Her debut, Natalia Lafourcade, was released in 2003 to criticial acclaim, and she was well on her way to carving out a niche in the pop music industry.

Lafourcade's first album was billed as an energetic and free-spirited compilation of songs that would ultimately pave the way for her future successes. Some of hit songs that emerged from the record included "En el 2000," "Busca un Problema," "Elefantes" and "Te Quiero Dar." The album went three times platinum, and she earned four Latin Grammy nominations for her notable first effort. Not bad for the young Lafourcade, who was just gaining her footing in the music business. This was the time that she formed a rock band, Natalia y la Forquentina, and the group released Casa in 2005, which included wild electric guitars and a true rock attitude that really demonstrated Lafourcade's abilities to transcend genres from pop to rock.

Although the band looked to be promising, Lafourcade left the group in order to pursue a solo career at which she seemed to excel greatly. Lafourcade is a young star, with still a lot to offer the industry, but she certainly is off to a great start and has generated worldwide praise for her successes in the business thus far.
