There is no doubt that when you need to get the party started, you should hit the play button on a CD by famous rap group Naughty by Nature. Their celebratory tunes and rambunctious style are just what you need to get people up out of their chairs and onto the dance floor. Naughty by Nature hit the big time almost instantly when they started releasing their big, catchy rap anthems that somehow wriggled their way onto the pop charts and reached a much more mainstream audience. Still, even though they were appealing to those who fancied the sounds of pop music rather than hardcore rap, they kept the homies satisfied by maintaining a thuggish, brash style. Naughty by Nature could appease everyone.

The group first formed in New Jersey in 1986 by members Treach, Vinnie and DJ Kay Gee. Initially, they started gaining attention by performing at local talent shows, and at some point they were discovered by none other than Queen Latifah. She helped sign them to her management company, and not long afterwards they signed a record deal with Tommy Boy Records. Their self-titled debut was released in 1991 and spawned a top ten hit with the song "O.P.P." The song made them crossover stars, although they managed to make waves in the hip-hop industry by maintaining a rough street style complete with funky beats.

Naughty By Nature continued onwards with their success with the 1993 album 19 Naughty III. The record did especially well with the help of one of its most popular tunes "Hip Hip Hooray," which inspired the chant "Hey! Oh!" Next up was the 1995 album Poverty's Paradise, which turned out to be their final album for Tommy Boy. The latter record won them a Grammy Award for Best Rap Album. The group sporadically released other albums in the late 1990s and early 2000s, but their most acclaimed successes were highlighted in the early 1990s.
