Nedelle Torrisi was predisposed to become a well-known music artist. Her father was a famous jazz drummer, and her mother was a classical pianist. As a result, the young Nedelle grew up playing many different types of instruments including violin, piano and the guitar. This would pique her interest in music and convince her that her best option would be to pursue a career in music, following in the footsteps of her parents. Nedelle is an extraordinary indie soul singer, having started composing and arranging her own material when she was still young. This led to her debut of the album Republic of Two. The record touches on the elements of soul, jazz, bossa nova, funk and rock. It helped propel Nedelle into the spotlight and spawned the songs "Come Around," "I Lied" and "Too Late." It was a grand entrance for a musician who was just starting out in the industry and helped to pave the way for future releases.

Nedelle followed up her phenomenal first effort with From the Lion's Mouth in 2005. In this record, she presents herself as both melancholy and charming. She improved upon her first album, perfecting her style and veering a little bit away from the sounds of soul and instead focusing many of her songs on the elements of indie pop and jazz. Melodies like "Tell Me a Story" and "Follow Me" create a relaxing and reassuring feeling in listeners, and the entire album itself is unforgettable, thanks to Nedelle's strengths as a musician.

Nedelle has also collaborated with other musical artists, like when she joined the band the Curtains' on their album Calamity in 2006. The album turned out to be a quirky, yet accessible combination of psychedelic pop/rock, punk and avant garde jazz, and Nedelle helped to define that sound in several of the songs. Later on, she also teamed up with the Curtains' founder Chris Cohen for another project Cryptacize, which also includes percussionist Michael Carreira.
