Nick Cannon ft B2k

Known best for his television and film appearances, Nick Cannon has become a triple-threat by adding music to his artistic mediums as well. With The Nick Cannon Show, MTV's Short Circuitz and a dramatic turn in the 2002 film Drumline, Cannon has earned many admirers. Though he only has two released albums to his name, you can expect to see him as a major recording artist in the future as well.

Cannon was born in 1980 and grew up in San Diego, CA. His grandfather gave him several musical instruments when he was eight, allowing him to develop his musical talent. He recorded his first song at home on a boom box. As he grew older, he would perform both music and comedy live on stage. By the age of 16 he was performing at The Improve, The Laugh Factory and The Comedy Store. Landing a role on Nickelodeon's All That increased his exposure. After becoming the co-host on several Nickelodeon shows, he got his own show in 2002, as well as landing a role in the hit movie Drumline.

Cannon's self-titled debut album would arrive in 2003, sparking a number of modest singles, including "Gigolo," which appeared on three Billboard charts, including a peak position of number nine on the Hot Rap Tracks chart. A follow-up, Stages, would appear in 2006. Though both earned a lukewarm reception from critics, it hasn't stopped his fans from loving his smooth voice and brilliant hip-hop. Actor Will Smith has long been a mentor to Cannon, and inspired him to cover Smith's classic Fresh Prince hit, "Parents Just Don't Understand." He also hosted a sketch comedy show for MTV entitled Short Circuitz and a comedy hip-hop show for Nickelodeon called Nick Cannon Presents Wild 'N Out.

Cannon is now the CEO of his own record label, and appears regularly in movies.
