Oasis is considered by many to be Britain's best band of the 1990s. Songwriter and lead guitarist Noel Gallagher crafted a catchy, Beatles-like sound laden with a variety of British influences that has resonated with listeners around the globe.

The Manchester-based band was formed in the early ‘90s by Gallagher's brother Liam and three friends. Since none of the group's members had the astounding musical talent that Noel did, he agreed to join the band as long as he could have complete control of it, something that would lead to an infamous, well-documented sibling rivalry between he and Liam.

After garnering some attention with a few singles, the group released their debut album Definitely Maybe in 1994 and their popularity exploded. The record became the fastest-selling debut in the history of their native land. As the band's fame and success escalated, so did Noel and Liam's constant brotherly bickering. This caused Noel briefly leave the group before returning towards the end of 1994.

After making a change at drummer, Oasis cut their second album, (What's the Story) Morning Glory and solidified themselves as musical royalty. The record not only became the second-biggest British album in history but also made the band international superstars. Fighting through even more hostility between the Gallagher brothers, the group's already substantial popularity experienced a meteoric rise.

The tension between the two siblings resulted in a long-winded recording period for the group's third album, Be Here Now. The album did extremely well initially, but lacked the staying power of its predecessors, namely Morning Glory. The constant turmoil within the group would result in cancelled tours and animosity between members. The group has released albums intermittently since Be Here Now but has been unable to completely capitalize on their immense talent and popularity they way they should have.
