Say the name Pepe Aguilar around female mariachi music fans and they will undoubtedly swoon. This singer pairs his heavenly vocals with traditional instruments like guitar, violins, trumpets and accordion to deliver a style all his own, which has coined the term "lovers' Mariachi."

Pepe Aguilar is the son of the famous cowboy singer and actor Antonio Aguilar and Flor Silvestre, who was a famous 1950s and ‘60s songstress. Born in the U.S. and raised in Zacatecas, Mexico, Pepe Aguilar hit the stage when he was just three-years-old and performed at the famed Madison Square Garden in New York at age five. The burgeoning singer saved money to buy his first drum set after being inspired by progressive rock bands like Pink Floyd and Jethro Tull as a teenager, but soon abandoned his rock star fantasies in favor of performing tejano music. Aguilar began blending traditional tejano style with modern pop influences and was soon a force in the Latin music scene, while simultaneously juggling a successful acting career.

Aguilar's 1998 album Por Mujeras Como Tu spent almost a year atop the Latin and Mexican music charts and in 1999 the singer won a Grammy Award for Best Mexican-American/Tejano Music Performance for Por una Mujer Bonita. Other albums for which Aguilar, who has racked up seven gold and three platinum records thus far, has achieved acclaim are 2003's Y Tenerte Olta Vez, 2004's Soy de Nadie and 2005's Historias de Mi Tierra.
