The story of alternative folk rocker Pete Yorn is one of an indie fairy tale. The singer/songwriter scored a record deal with major label Columbia and landed his songs in a scattering of films and television shows for his signature heart-on-his-sleeve style. Yorn is responsible for most of the instrumental components in his songs (bass, drums, organ, percussion, and acoustic and electric guitar,) and his vocals have been compared to the likes of Nick Drake. This indie star is quickly carving out his own place in the indie scene and is here to stay.

Yorn taught himself to play the drums while growing up in New Jersey, learning guitar by the time he was 12 and discovering the music of the Smiths and Morrissey soon after. In 1990 Yorn performed in a pivotal talent show at his Montville High School, and upon graduating from Syracuse University the singer/songwriter moved to Los Angeles and began performing at Café Largo. Yorn landed two songs, "Strange Condition" and "Just Another," in the Jim Carrey blockbuster (and Farrely Brothers' flick) Me, Myself and Irene after the film's producer Bradley Thomas (Kingpin, There's Something About Mary) caught one of his shows. Since then, York's music has appeared in a myriad of films and television show.

Yorn's debut album, musicforthemorningafter, went gold in April 2002, and the following spring he issued its follow-up, Day I Forget. Before releasing his third studio full-length, Nightcrawler, Yorn issued his first live album. Live from New Jersey was a double-disc that recorded his performance at the Community Theater in Morristown, NJ. The Butch Walker-produced Nightcrawler boasted collaboration credits from the Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl as well as Martie Maguire and Natalie Maines from the Dixie Chicks.
