Petey Pablo wasted no time in becoming famous. Unlike other music artists, who quite often, have a slow ascent to the top, Petey Pablo broke quickly with his hugely successful single, "Raise Up." Pablo seemed to follow suit, as his song entered into the Top Ten R&B singles, Pablo himself was taking the music world by storm. He was granted weeks of seemingly endless airtime and in absolutely no time at all fans were rapping along with the Southern star. Petey Pablo, an unusual combination of first and last names, was suddenly a household name and his widespread success was not just confined to the borders of southern states but stretched from coast to coast, eliciting excitement among many avid listeners of rap music.

Petey Pablo was of course not always a big name in the rap music world and although his climb to the top seemed effortless, Pablo struggled for many years in an effort to strike success on the charts. His countless hours of hard work would eventually pay off, especially as he scored the attentions of big-time figures like Busta Rhymes, Black Rob and eventually one of the top producers in the business, Timbaland. His first single, "Raise Up," first started getting substantial airplay in the summer of 2001. The single remained on the charts for many months and created a widespread following of fans for the emerging young artist. The single itself helped to set the stage for Pablo's debut album, Diary of a Sinner. The record featured several Timbaland tracks and productions by other mega rap stars.

After he catapulted to success, Pablo seemed to suddenly slip off of the radar and it wasn't until 2004 that his name once again popped up on the Billboard charts. With the album, Still Writing in My Diary, Pablo scored a hit with the song "Freek-a-Leek." Once again Petey Pablo was guaranteed a massive amount of radio time and the established rap star once again watched as his fan base continued to grow.
