Petula Clark was born on November 15, 1932 in Ewell, Surrey in England. She was taught music by her mother, a Welsh soprano, who gave her the training she needed to start her stage career at the tender age of seven years old. By the time she was 11 she was already hosting her own radio show Pet's Parlour. During WWII she entertained allied troops alongside Julie Andrews and Anthony Newly. She became known as the "Singing Sweetheart" by American Troops.

In the 1950s she enjoyed growing success, but found it difficult to move away from the image of the child star that she had first become famous with during the war. At the age of 27 she moved to France and married Claude Wolff, then a PR exec for Vogue. She launched her new sound at the Olympia Theatre in Paris in 1960, and her career grew wings. Since then she has released more than 30 albums, with many of those winning top points in the charts. Her music has been loved and celebrated by millions, nearing her 76th birthday Petula Clark is still a fantastic singer with an amazing voice whose career will go down in history as one of the great musical careers of all time.
