When it comes to the wide world of dance-pop music, British vocalist Rachel Stevens is at the very top of the pack. The ex-S Club (formerly S Club 7) singer ignited onto the music scene with the hit pop group/TV show S Club 7 in the early 2000s, and her star has only risen immensely since then.
Stevens was born and raised in London, England, and her penchant for entertaining was obvious at a young age. As a child, she began singing and acting wherever she could, and at age 15 the ravishing young star won a modeling competition that boosted her up into the public eye. Stevens went on to attend the London School of Fashion, earning a degree and intending to start a career in fashion public relations. Instead, however, Stevens recorded a string of demos that were discovered by Spice Girls manager Simon Fuller and the media mogul cast her in his latest project, a dual pop group and TV show S Club 7 in 1999. Other members of S Club 7 included Paul Cattermole, Jo O'Meara, Tina Barrett, Jon Lee, Bradley McIntosh and Hannah Spearritt, and the fresh new face of pop music set out on a long journey to satiate the ever-growing need for bubblegum acts around the globe. The show catered to children and young teens, earning an incredible fan base that helped boost the members' careers.
Splitting from S Club in 2003, Stevens immediately embarked upon a solo career. The soulfully pop single "Sweet Dreams My L.A. Ex" debuted in 2003, and the stunning vocalist's debut solo album Funky Dory was finally released in the States in 2004. Stevens also experienced phenomenal success with her next single "Some Girls," and she released her follow-up album Come and Get It in 2005.
