Jamming out to her incredible style of hip-hop music like she's the queen of Crunk Kingdom, the foxy R&B/hip-hop vocalist Rasheeda has taken over the Dirty South with her catchy songs and seductress ways. Making her way down the path of hip-hop notoriety, Rasheeda has become the next Missy Elliott of sorts, cranking out fearless rhymes and rhythms for the last decade while keeping her feminine image golden.
Born and raised in the suburb of Decatur, Illinois, Rasheeda bounded down the music trail as a child, joining the hip-hop trio Da Kaperz in her teenage years. Eventually splitting from Da Kaperz to go solo, Rasheeda was quickly snapped up by Motown Records, thereafter releasing the album (and Southern staple) Dirty South in 2001. The album featured collaborations with artists Kurupt, Kool Ace and Nelly, and Rasheeda's hit single "Do It (Do Da Damn Thang)" with Pastor Troy became an instant Dirty South anthem. Following up the well-acclaimed Dirty South with A Ghetto Dream on D-Lo Entertainment in 2002, Rasheeda earned an even more incredible following with her next album Georgia Peach in 2006, which features the smash singles "Vibrate" (with Petey Pablo) and "Rocked Away" (with Lil Scrappy).
Now signed on with EMI's independent label Imperial Records, Rasheeda has continued to stun, satiate and stampede her Dirty South fan base over the past decade, finally releasing Dat Type of Gurl on D-Lo/York Entertainment/Imperial Records in 2007. Rasheeda's ghetto-fabulous music style and street-smart vibes are completely epitomized in the rapper's most recent release, and the hit single "My Bubble Gum" off the '07 release is a confident and catchy track that has made the album fare incredibly well on the hip-hop charts, and the single itself has also graced the charts at number 55.
