Richie Sambora has won the title of rock legend proudly and has had his share of moments in the tabloids. He is best known as the guitarist for the legendary band Bon Jovi as well as the band's chief songwriting collaborator with Jon Bon Jovi. He was born in 1959 and raised in New Jersey. The death of another rock legend, Jimi Hendrix, prompted Sambora to learn the guitar. He grew up listening to rock ‘n' roll and blues as well as Spanish classical music. He started studying guitar legends like Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page in order to hone his craft, and young Sambora was becoming quite good.

Sambora went to college, but dropped out to join a band. The band failed, leaving Sambora in limbo, but he soon joined a band called Bon Jovi, which would later become the phenomenon that millions know today. The band was touring overseas by 1985 and was shot into rock stardom the next year with "Living on a Prayer." By the early 1990s, Sambora had experienced incredible fame, but was also slightly burned out. He needed an outlet for creativity and turned to a solo career. He released Stranger in this Town in 1991, which reached number 36 on the Billboard 200 chart.

He continued working with Bon Jovi as well. He met actress Heather Locklear, who later became his wife. The two had a daughter in 1997, and Sambora was ready to work on a sophomore solo album. He released Undiscovered Soul in 1998 and it reached number 174 on the Billboard 200 chart. Sambora has continued to work, but the last few years have put his personal life in the spotlight more than his music. He had a very public divorce from Locklear in 2006, after which he dated Locklear's friend, Denise Richards.
