The humorous songs on the album drew in even more fans and solidified those who were fans of his from the radio, and it sold over 475,000 copies. The album wouldn't hit the charts, however, until after he released the successful Morning Wood in 2000. Morning Wood reached number 18 on the country charts and number 153 on the Billboard 200. It also pushed his debut album to number 73 on the country charts in 2000. He followed it up in 2003 with Nut Sack, which charted even higher than its predecessor.

He released a successful greatest this album in 2004. That same year, he also starred in a sitcom called Rodney for two seasons on ABC. When that ended, Carrington only sped up his career. In 2007, he released the album King of the Mountains, a live concert DVD, had his own Comedy Central Special and released a book called Rodney Carrington, Coming Clean. The next year, he co-starred in a Trace Adkins music video as well as appeared with Toby Keith in the film Beer for My Horses. Keith has also worked with Carrington on his upcoming new album on Capitol Records.
