Russ Lee found his voice as a popular Christian music artist during the 1990s, and his excitement and enthusiasm shined through in his new role on center stage. Lee started out his career as the lead singer for the band Newsong, and soon afterwards, he set his sights on what would eventually become a highly successful solo career. He really hit the big time with his popular solo debut called Words in Time. The song that helped propel him to stardom from that record was "Live What I Believe." Fans embraced his unique and energetic style whole-heartedly. Russ Lee had found his niche in a massive industry, which is often times hard to find one's footing in.

Lee was born in Cleveland, Tennessee and grew up in the tiny Smokey Mountains town. He had a rough childhood and as a teenager was responsible for the caring and well-bring of his younger siblings as his mother struggled with mental instability and his father had an ongoing issue with alcoholism. Lee, though, was determined to get out of the house and pursue his dreams and goals for the future. He took to playing the guitar and found comfort in music. Unfortunately, Lee also found comfort in the use of drugs and started to veer wildly off track until he began attending church. Then his life immediately turned around.

His enthusiasm for his faith and his ministry led to him singing in the Christian group Truth, and he subsequently joined Newsong. His solo success came after a move to Nashville along with his wife and kids. He released his debut album called Words in Time in 2000. The record proved to be a breakthrough for Lee and featured all new and creative material. Over the years, Russ Lee has become a favorite on Christian music radio stations, and his passion for his religion and his music helps keep this artist on the right track.
